Civic Auditorium Centennial Celebration and 2025 Carnegie Car Show

When: Saturday, June 7, 2025
Where: Civic Auditorium, 400 N. Douty Street, Hanford CA 93230

The celebration starts with a community breakfast ($7) inside the auditorium from 7 a.m. - 11 a.m. 

A free open house featuring historic displays and videos will also take place inside the auditorium from 7 a.m. - 1 p.m. 

The Carnegie Car Show takes place from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. in downtown Hanford. 

Last but not least, the community is invited to attend a free ceremony featuring live entertainment and presentations at 3 p.m. inside the auditorium.

Sousa Tribute Band performanceThe ceremony will include very special performance by the John Philip Sousa Tribute Band. Philip Sousa was a famous conductor and composer whose band performed twice at the Hanford Civic Auditorium: in 1926 and in 1928.

“Sousa’s musical compositions represent a heritage that belongs not only to Americans, but also to vast numbers of music lovers around the world. His influence on American musical tastes was remarkable, and much of his influence spread abroad. The Sousa band traveled the world in 1910-1911, made four additional tours of Europe, and annual tours of America."

The front page of the Hanford Morning Journal (Friday, January 30, 1925) announces the grand opening of the Civic Auditorium. A real preserved copy will be on display during the Century of Memories event.
